Problems of women journalists in Nepal

Sangita Khadka, chairperson of the Committee for Determining the Minimum Wage, said that the participation of women in the field of journalism has increased more than before.

Khadka said that women's beauty has been used in various news programs on television. "It's not just a use, it's a necessity," she says. Another problem is that women are not allowed to participate in the editorial team in the television newsroom.
Khadka said that things are being done by the media house to keep them on low pay and deprive them of the opportunity to work for a good salary. Sangita Khadkaler also said that women are not allowed to use their decision-making power and ability to work only in the field of machinery.
Only women are represented commercially. Not only women but in recent times there has been a tendency to keep them on low pay. She says Khadka, who was recently appointed, could not work on the issue as she had just joined the Minimum Wage Determination Committee.
The development of women has been hampered. She says that the workload is very high but the salary is low. Women in the same position should not be less and men should be more but indirectly.
According to Khadka, women who work as journalists are taking care of their children at home.
He feels that the media house should be responsible for night duty, which should be unprotected from male co-workers even in the workplace, but instead deprives women of the opportunity to work at night and hesitate to work.
Sangita, who has worked in the media sector for a long time, says that women in the media house are hiding incidents of violence and abuse for fear of being humiliated.
The guideline was drafted a few years ago to address more than 70 percent of the problems faced by women journalists.
Unfortunately, the directory could not come, said Sangita Khadka.
Stating that the place of work is still not women friendly, she said that there is a mentality that a woman should not be kept late rather than taking a woman journalist home from the night desk.
Women are still valued in the eyes of yesterday's society. Women also have to take initiatives to develop their abilities.
According to Sangita, only labor issues are raised.
No one, be it women or men, fell victim to injustice. That is our belief. The Minimum Wage Determination Committee keeps an eye on the low paid media and recommends that fact to the Council of Ministers or the government.
After that, the process of implementation will be started in the media, said Khadka
The condition of women in the television newsroom Deepa Dahal
Journalist Deepa Dahal said that she was an example of a journalist who was subjected to violence and injustice. Deepa Dahal, who worked for Kantipur Television for about 15 years as a co-editor, told a press conference that she was a victim inside the newsroom.
She said that in front of the television, FNJ media group WWJ and other organizations had heated up the streets in favor of Dahal. He. She said that she was subjected to violence by her male colleague. Not to mention the low paid women in the television newsro
The tendency to show hepatic behavior has increased. He was suspended from the newsroom without any reason. She also asked for the help of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
I'm not afraid of anyone doing anything. Because I have suffered. Journalist Deepa Dahal says women are seen as objects of beauty. The reason for despising women is not being able to raise their voice against the injustice done to them.
Women are paid less in the television newsroom. Dahal told us that if the editorial rights are not given or if there is any disregard or disobedience, then there is a lot of harassment. According to Dahal, the intention of the manager is to keep the salary as low as possible, not to increase the salary, not to provide service facilities, and to keep the job in Khajihale.
She says that after marriage, women are not told by their husbands to go and work in the media. Even if they are told, the media houses do not give priority to married women with children and women find themselves in the field of journalism.
There is no safe environment for women to work in the media for a long time. Dahal says that except for one, there are no older women in the world of journalism.
she said that in some cases, women endure injustice and the second Pidak's morale increases. Despite not being able to boycott, Dahal said that violence against women has increased in the society.
Dahal said that women's participation in television has decreased due to reasons such as giving less opportunity to women in capacity building, not giving equal opportunity to women, not giving equal salary allowance and not creating a women friendly environment. Dahal has his own experience that the number of participants has not been able to increase their capacity effectively due to lack of motivation.

Journalist Dahal said that she was not in a position to formally say that it is not right for women to work outside or that it is not right for them to do so, but that they are also in trouble because of the role of managers in creating an indoor environment and disturbing the women-friendly environment. She says she has never been sexually assaulted and that she is not afraid of it.Women journalists are still subjected to violence in the workplace. For example, the issue raised by a female journalist should not be taken seriously, but two women should be given bits, but when reporting on important issues including politics, finance, male journalists should be given priority. 3 Even in Kathmandu's largest media house, the presence of women journalists at the editorial level is very low.
4. There are many male journalists who have become editors before women and men who came in journalism after them, but even after working for many years, they have not been able to reach the level of editor. 5. Many women journalists are facing professional violence. Put it together
